Bryan began his study of yoga and meditation in the 1970s. He had practiced many styles of yoga and martial arts until he discovered Iyengar Yoga in 1982. Bryan’s career as a yoga teacher began in 1984, when friends requested that he offer classes. In 1991, Bryan opened his own yoga studio in Ventura, California. He taught and ran the Ventura Yoga Studio until 2013, when he decided to shift the focus of his yoga career.
Bryan received his Introductory Iyengar Yoga certification in 1989. In 1992, he received his Intermediate level 3 certification. He served on the board of directors of the Southern California Iyengar Yoga Association in the late 1980s. He was honored to serve as an Iyengar Yoga National Association Certification Assessor from 1994 to 2012. Bryan has spent about 6 months in India studying with the Iyengars. He feels one of his greatest blessings was to have spent a month taking classes with B.K.S. Iyengar, a life-changing experience.
Bryan has studied with many senior Iyengar instructors and is grateful for the knowledge
they’ve shared with him. In 1992, Bryan began an extensive period of study with Aadil Palkhivala. Aadil’s teaching inspired him to broaden the practice of yoga from the yoga mat to all aspects of his life. Bryan continues to study with Aadil’s brother Jehangir Palkhivala both in India and in the United States. In 1998, Bryan founded the Great Yoga Wall, Inc., a distributor of high-end yoga equipment. Bryan teaches workshops, retreats, yoga teacher trainings and yoga wall trainings in the U.S. and abroad.
